Overview
Calculate total capacity, liquid volume, remaining volume and fill percentage for a rectangular tank.
Formula
Vtotal = L × W × H Vliquid = L × W × h Vremaining = L × W × (H − h) Fill [%] = 100h/H

How to use
- Check the units, enter the required values and select the available calculation options.
- Results update immediately. Correct any highlighted input before using the result.
- Choose display precision, copy the result or share the current inputs. Reset restores the example values.
Engineering notes
- Use internal dimensions. Assumes a level floor and vertical walls; structural members, piping, sumps and vessel trim are excluded.
- For actual ship tanks, use approved sounding/ullage tables. Geometric remaining volume is not a safe filling limit.
Frequently asked questions FAQ
Can liquid height be zero?
Yes. An empty tank has zero liquid volume and 0% fill. A liquid height above the tank height is rejected.
Does display precision change the calculation?
No. Rounding is applied only to displayed results, not intermediate calculations. Small nonzero values use scientific notation. Consider the precision of the original measurements when interpreting results.
